The Downing Heliportable makes it possible to establish work station heliport where needed, whether in permanent, semi-permanent or temporary locations. It may be stored in compact packages in enclosed or open areas when not in use its individual parts are easily handled by 2 men.

The end view of one stack of Prefabricated Heliport Deck/Planks. The stack shown contains 24 units and is approximately 1.3 meter wide by 1.3 meters high by 6 meters long. Individual pieces may be stored and withdrawn as needed for the proposed heliport and then replaced into inventory when not in use.
A base camp operation may involve more than one heliport location and the inventory quantity of Deck/Planks needed for one large heliport could be a sufficient quantity for a number of smaller touchdown helipads, in the same area of operations.
The heliport Deck/Planks may be moved by a ground vehicle or by helicopter.
The attached photo shows a helicopter carrying one sling load of Deck/Planks. There are 24 pieces in this load, securely packaged on a pre-designed carrying pallet that can be quickly loaded and unloaded for transportation.

THE PORTABLE HELIPORT, Helimat™ KIT
The Helimat™ Kit provides a set of matting that can be placed on graded, level and solid ground, to serve as a landing area for helicopters. It is packaged in a metal container with all anchors, plates, mats and necessary tools for unloading. It is modular and one Helimat TM Kit will supply a heliport landing area for a helicopter such as a Bell 206. Larger heliports may require more than one Kit.
The container is designed to be either sling loaded by helicopter or trucked to your remote or temporary location.
- It is capable of handling Take Off and Landings of the helicopter to be used.
- It provides a semi solid metallic non slip work area for handling passengers and materials.
- It provides a semi solid metallic surface to guard against mud and other weather caused operational deterrents.
- It will reasonably prevent debris and other matter from being lifted from the ground by the helicopter rotor.
- It can be unloaded at the heliport site quickly and is easily assembled.
- The assembled matting will be equal in size to the rotor diameter of the design helicopter.
- It is fully portable.
- It can be sling loaded and carried to its destination by helicopter or by ground means.
