The Downing Prefabricated Heliport may be installed on the roof or in the parking lot. Whether it is on the roof or in your parking lot, the basic design is similar. The principal difference is the overall height of the steel support columns. The rooftop heliport is built to be above the roof level in order to clear the parapet or other obstructions. The steel columns of the parking lot heliport are taller to allow for parking spaces under the landing area and require footings

- It is light in weight. The decking weighs 14 pounds (6.35kg) per square foot. This compares to 80 pound for a conventional heliport. You can install the Prefabricated Heliport on the roof of your building even if it cannot carry a conventional heliport.
- It is very strong. The aluminum extruded Deck/Planks will support 12,000 pound Take Off capability when supported at 10 foot intervals. Greater weight capacity is possible by moving the supports to closer intervals. (e.g. 23,000 when supported at 6 foot intervals.
- It can be moved to an alternate location if the need arises. You may add stories to your building, or move to a parking lot landing location for convenience. The conventional heliport cannot be moved, it must be salvaged.
- It simplifies the process. The COMPLETE Heliport is supplied by one professional supplier. The Design, Engineering and All of the materials are shipped to your job site ready for assembly along with the assembly manual.
- Built to your design and specifications. The modular design makes it possible to build it to any size or shape.
- Less time. There is no replication of research. We have the advantage of 20 years of experience in the helicopter industry and know in advance what is required. We can design, engineer, manufacture and deliver to your job site in as few as 90-120 Days.
- Accurate Quoting. You will know what it costs before your start. A firm complete price.
- It comes complete with the finest Heliport Lighting System in the world.
- Manufacturer Support. On-site assembly consultation by the manufacturer for support in the assembly process.

The Supporting Structure, is composed of structural steel parts that are designed and engineered to be capable of supporting the heliport as well as the helicopter. When we are commissioned to supply the Downing Prefabricated Heliport, we complete the design as well as the engineering and we supply drawings of each of the important parts of the structure as well as the complete heliport. You will see what each component will look like and how it fits into the final assembly.
The drawings include the Support Columns, the Girders, and the Purlins. We will supply the steel or you may wish to purchase the steel locally for convenience. We will provide the drawings to your steel supplier for fabrication of the Supporting Structure, as desired.
The Decking is the landing area of the heliport and is composed of extruded non slip aluminum Deck/Planks which are installed upon the supporting structure. The Deck/Planks are interlocking and installed side by side across the entire landing surface. We have designed them to accept de-icing equipment if necessary in your geographic location. They weight only 14 pounds (6.36 kg) per square foot, but are very strong.
The Deck/Planks will support a helicopter with a maximum takeoff weight of 12,000 pounds when supported at 10 foot intervals and 23,000 pounds when supported at 6 foot intervals.
The Decking comes with installation tools, connecting hardware and detailed installation instructions and drawings.
The Safety Net Assembly is modern in design and beautiful in appearance. It is complete as an assembly and is composed of separate steel modules that are light in weight but very strong. Each module is engineered to fit your heliport.
The entire Assembly is finished in permanent powder coating polyester in the color of your choice so that it adds to the beauty of the heliport. It is packaged complete with the connecting hardware and with detailed installation instruction.
We will design the access of your choice for the Prefabricated Heliport. Specify when ordering and we will incorporate your request in the engineering of you Heliport.
When a ramp is specified we will use the same non slip aluminum Deck/Plank as used for the landing surface of your heliport.
The Downing Heliport Lighting Systems is a Coordinated, Complete, Comprehensive and Innovative Lighting System exclusively designed for the HELICOPTER OPERATOR.
